Help Us Become United!
In April of 2012, three of us met at the Vietnamese Noodle House to talk about what we thought was an inconceivable idea at the time. We wanted to host a pride festival, like the ones that we've all heard about down south. We wanted to bring together the community that has always supported us as who we are for an amazing weekend of music, education, celebration and love. And in three short months, we did it! We hosted the first ever NWT Pride three-day festival on August 31st - September 2nd that we titled "BE SHAMELESS".
This year, our festival is called "UNITE US" and we haven't had as much success with local sponsorship as we would have liked, but no worries! We understand that businesses and organizations may be having their own events to host. However, we know that we can come together as a community, and have YOU, Northerners, to help us host an incredible festival!
This year's festival is being held on August 9th - 11th!
Not from here? You should still help!
We know that not everybody who wants to help lives in the North, but guess what? It's still super important that you help support us. There are members of the LGBTTQQIAP+A* community all over the world, and in a lot of places like the North. Places that are rural, isolated or small that for a lot of us, make us feel like we'll never get to have that true experience of going to a pride festival.
Help support us, for those of our community who have never been able to be a part of something like this before.
What We Need & What You Get
Basically, we need funds to help pay for venues, music, workshop materials and facilitation, advertising and other supplies that'll help us host an awesome festival.
But we're not asking you to just give us money, we're asking you to donate money in exchange for a chance to win some free stuff!
How It Works
E-mail money transfer your donation to NWT Pride at nwtpride @ gmail.com (without spaces) with a security question that we can answer. A good question, is "What was NWT Pride's theme last year?" (The answer is "Be Shameless")
Then, we'll put your name and amount in to an excel sheet so that we know exactly what your perks are. If you're from out of town, we'll get in contact with you and mail you some cool stuff to thank you for supporting us even though you're not at the festival. If you're entered in for a chance to win a prize, your name will be drawn at the festival on Sunday night. If you don't want to donate, but still want to get entered in a chance to win a prize, send us an e-mail to see how you can do so!

NWT Pride is important to our community because we open up a space where people can come together and celebrate who we are and learn about each others' identities. We offer safe conversation, and a space for people to learn when they may not have felt okay to learn somewhere else.
We love being able to offer a great space for the community, but we need your help to do so again!
